Anxiety BC

We've just finished putting the final touches on the Anxiety BC video, which in our opinion looks pretty great! We found a good cross-section of actors to represent all walks of life, and they were an awesome bunch to work with.

The video (which may also be used as a PSA for TV) will be for Anxiety BC's website. It gives a brief introduction to what anxiety is about, some of the symptoms, and where to access help. Anxiety BC's website is really user friendly is a great resource for those seeking help for anxiety disorders such as panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, and other anxiety disorders.

Thanks again Arto, everyone involved in Anxiety BC, and our great cast and crew!

Blue Bear Aware

Yesterday was another fun shoot with our latest project Blue Bear Aware - a Vancouver-based allergy clothing and products line. We expected a typical Vancouver rainy day, but luckily the skies were clear and we got some good outdoor shots.

Owners Roberta and Elizabeth Cottam were great sports and did a fabulous on camera presentation of their products and their goal to raise awareness in the community about allergies.

Since 2006 they've been Canada's first and largest one-stop-shop for allergy awareness.

Another really interesting person we've discovered through Blue Bear Aware is singer/songwriter Kyle Dine, who has a wonderfully heartwarming CD about allergies that kids will love! Especially the song "Epi-Man". You must check it out!

Thanks again Elizabeth and Roberta for all your hard work and for making our jobs easy and fun!

Mike Vitow

Well, we are now finished editing the video for Mike Vitow and his world-famous New York corned beef! It was a fun project and we had a beautiful sunny winter day for shooting out in Cultus Lake, BC.

As you'll see from the video, Mike's unique personality really comes through, with this New York accent and great passion for his product. Once you've tasted his artisan corned beef, I think you'll all agree that it's the best you'll find in Western Canada. Mike sells his product mostly to restaurants and hotels, but he also has a small shop out in Cultus Lake that opens on Fridays and weekends. He usually books a table at Granville Island Market around the middle of every month.

Richard and I have known Mike for about 10 years, I met him through acting class and we have remained friends ever since. It was a real pleasure to be able to put this together for him and we hope it spreads the word even more about his amazing product. Thanks again Mike for being such a great subject! We wish you all the best.

Chemainus (Day 2)

We had a day off today, after our long 8-hour shoot yesterday. We wandered around the town checking out all the cool artsy shops and cafes set in heritage buildings. Willow Street Cafe (http://www.willowstreetcafe.com) was probably our favorite. The building was constructed in 1935 and used to be the bank and post office, but it was originally built for the Freemasons. Incredible atmosphere and great customer service. Fabulous mochas and cheese scones as well.

Finished up the trip by visiting my favorite Auntie June in her little attic cottage just out of town. When we arrived she was in the process of boiling maple syrup from sap she'd collected from the trees outside.

Zoe the dog made us feel very welcome too!

Can't wait to come back and visit again!

Chemainus

Here we are in Chemainus, BC doing a video shoot for Caravaggio, a local choclatier that hand-makes all of their chocolates, fudge and roasts their own coffee (yummy stuff). Carolyn and Michael have owned the store for two years although the business has been here for 25 years.

We did a lot of product photography and of course we had to sample many treats that couldn't be sold once we'd handled them. Every time we were in the kitchen we couldn't resist digging into the huge box of Belgian chocolate chips that were just sitting there waiting to be melted.

Chemainus is such a lovely and quaint little town, full of character and charming little stores. The theatre is a huge attraction here although we haven't had time to visit. We heard people come from miles around to check out the stellar shows.

Went to a restaurant called Odika (www.odikacafe.com). It's an African-themed bistro; some of the yummiest food we ever had, and a warm inviting atmosphere. It's run by a husband and wife team and each table was personally visited by the owner/chef. Some of the best coconut prawns we've ever had, and the lamb burger was out of this world. They've only been in business three months but they've been busy since opening. You must check it out!
